A two day regional colloquium on countering violent extremism kicked off in Garissa University Wednesday, 4 April 2018. North Eastern Regional Commissioner, Amb. Mohamud Saleh was the chief guest. Deputy Governors and County commissioners from Mandera and Wajir were in attendance. While addressing participants, Garissa University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ahmed Osman Warfa thanked the government for its support adding that we need to join hands to defeat violent extremist groups.
Amb. Saleh urged parents in the region to talked to their children about the danger of joining violent extremist group such as Al-Shabaab. He offer amnesty for suspected radicalized youth in the region.
