Garissa University was honored to host Professor Chris Imafidon, a distinguished scholar and innovator, who delivered an insightful talk and opening remarks at the launch of a four-day training on Earth Observation (EO) and Remote Sensing for Rangeland Regeneration, a project supported by Mercy Corps.

The training, facilitated by Locate IT at the Geospatial Innovation Centre (GIC), brings together stakeholders from Livestock, ICT, and Agriculture departments of Garissa and Wajir Counties, alngside Garissa University postgraduate and undergraduate students, faculty, and staff.

The function was graced by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ahmed O. Warfa, Abdinoor Alimahdi, Education technologist and Founder of M-lugha, Mr Daud Hassan, Executive Director, Humble healthcare, London, UK and Dr Ben from Multimedia University, Fatha Aden, Deputy Director Institute of Peace and Security Studies, Ms. Florine-GIS Advisor-Mercy Corps and Dr. Mohamed Hussein Omar, Dean of the School of Pure and Applied Sciences (SPAS). Their presence highlighted the university’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge geospatial technology for sustainable environmental management.
