MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION PROGRAMME (MBA)
Course Overview
The challenge for educational institutions is to train and equip human resources with enhanced skills for solving the challenges in different sectors of the economy. There is no doubt that management plays a crucial role in the world of competitive business, growth and productivity. Every organization, small or large, rises or falls on management. Today, the global business environment needs executives who are cognizant of the global trends and who have the ability to quickly, and correctly respond to the challenges therein. Garissa University, School of Business and Economics has risen to meet the need for management professionals through the offering of the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree programme. The MBA degree program equips graduates with knowledge, skills, attitude and competencies needed in managing business organizations and social institutions. As Kenya moves towards industrialization it is envisaged that a strong, diversified, resilient and highly competitive economy will emerge. The business environment is also becoming increasingly globalized. Such a dynamic environment will call for professionals capable of dealing with a variety of challenges. The MBA programme aims at meeting these training needs for the economy.
Course Structure
The common procedure approved for examination regulations and supervision, submission and examination of research projects for postgraduate studies shall apply. The programme shall take two academic years involving 13 courses and a research project. Each course will have three (3) Credit Hours and the research projects will have six (6) Credit Hours.
Admission Requirement
The applicants must meet the following requirements: –
- A holder of a degree in business or commerce from a university recognized by CUE with first class or second upper-class honours or
- A holder of a degree in business or commerce from a university recognized by CUE with second class lower honours with two (2) years working experience or
- A holder of a degree in any discipline from a university recognized by CUE with at least second-class lower honours with a Diploma in Business Studies validated by CUE or
- A holder of a degree in any discipline from a university recognized by CUE with at least second-class lower honours with three (3) years managerial experience.
