On this special day of National tree planting,
the Vice Chancellor, Prof Ahmed Warfa welcomed the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Coordination, Prof. Kithure Kindiki and Governor Nadhif Jama to Garissa University for the lauch of the tree planting exercise in Garissa County.
The CS was accompanied by Garissa Women Rep Hon Udgon Siyat, Garissa Township MP Hon Dekow Barrow, and nominated MP Umulkheir Harun.
More than 2000 trees were planted on University grounds in collaboration with the County Government of Garissa.
Prof Kindiki emphasized the need to plant, protect and manage trees in order to increase the nationwide tree coverage and mitigate climate change.
