The National Research Fund (NRF) has officially signed a funding agreement with Garissa University

Great news!

The National Research Fund (NRF) has officially signed a funding agreement with Garissa University to support a leather value chain project.

The signing ceremony took place earlier today in the NRF Boardroom on the 3rd Floor of the NACOSTI Building.

This financial support from the NRF to enable Garissa University to conduct research focused on strengthening Kenya’s leather industry. It aims at turning hides and skins which are considered a bye product to be aa key product in the livestock sector.

Funding from NRF to universities is crucial in promoting research that solves societal problems. Therefore, the funding will be used to enhance the capacity of the slaughter house staff so that they can produce quality hides and skins at source. This will be achieved through a project titled *QUALITY IMPROVEMENT OF HIDES AND SKINS IN

GARISSA SUB-COUNTY THROUGH CAPACITY-BUILDING

OF SLAUGHTER OPERATORS, FLAYERS AND TRADERS* led by Prof. Huho.

We appreciate NRF for supporting Garissa University
