The School of Pure and Applied Sciences hosted its 1st Annual dinner at Lantern Hotel

On December 16, 2023, the School of Pure and Applied Sciences hosted its 1st Annual dinner at Lantern Hotel. The event focused on various thematic areas, including scientific breakthroughs and emerging trends in natural sciences, emerging trends in Actuarial science and Statistics, and emerging trends in computer science and Information Technology.

The occasion was graced by the Vice Chancellor Prof Ahmed O. Warfa, who delivered an inspiring speech. He encouraged the students to develop a growth mindset in academia by pursuing Masters and PhD, as well as acquiring soft and technical skills for them to remain competitive in the job market.

Towards the end of the event, the Vice Chancellor awarded certificates to several SPAS students who emerged as winners in the International Statistical Literacy Project competition (Kenya) during the 2022-2023 financial year. The competition was organized by the International Association of Statistical Education.

Among the attendees were Dr. Aden Ali, the Registrar of Academic Student Affairs, Prof Ahmed Maalim, the Director of the Institute of Peace and Security Studies, Dr. Hussein Mohammed, the Dean of the School of Pure and Applied Sciences, Dr. Rosalia Mumo, the Dean of Students, Mr. Brian Apudo, Chairperson Dept of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Mr. Osman Mohamed, Head of Examination, faculty members, other administrative staff, and a significant representation of SPAS students.
